For those who know me on a more personal level last week was my birthday.
Now there is nothing that spectacular about it apart from perhaps it falls on saint patricks day but so do many others. however I do feel the events are with merit thus being thrown down here.
I have; for most of my life made a big thing out of my birthday, not in a "Its my birthday, its my day, do as I say way" which i consider to be something only spoilt rotten children do but I see it as a day of celibration that everyone can join in. My parents have certainly encourgaed this view by throwing large 'bashes' on the eventuful day or weekend near each with its own distinct flavour.
1 - 3 - a large family affair where myself and most of my cousins where to young to really do much but poop and get into trouble.
4 - 5 consisted of a summer party type affair with party games, a bouncy castle, BBq food and lots of freinds. I consider these to be were I learnt my love of bouncy castles from that continues to today.
6 - 12 Mainly consisted of adventuring off to the local play zone where many a kiss chase was formed between the make and female participants. Usuually it would be the guys trying to hide away from cootie ridden girls. Great fun to be had.
13 - 17 was a medly of meals, movies and other such fun things you can only enjoy in fairly large groups. both family and freinds.
18th. Well what can one say. without sounding like a drunkard. I do belive most of my 18th was spent in a park drinking the night away merrily till all had to go home. Good times.
Its only really now as I have come of age that its all slowing down. which is fine giving what a wide range of memories I have from the past. its about time I put away my dancing shoes. That said my 22nd has turned out to be somewhat of a surprise.
The day was mildly uneventful, a few cards a little cash Plenty of love from the facebook crowd (mildly surprised there) but as the evening came round it really kicked into high gear. First off my House mate Dannielle decided to give me both a card and cadburies creme eggs. God I LOVE creme eggs. It was also a transformers card. Much awesomeness points to her for this epic present. So as a threesome (Myself, Danni and Ben) we headed to Chimichangas, the fairly expensive mexican restuarant down on the Brayford Quay. We met up with an assortment of lovely people who deemed the night worth living and headed inside, ten of us in all. This is where the trouble began.
Now one would expect amexican resturant to be run by mexicans but sadlyt hey are in short supply in Lincoln so we had Polish people. POLISH with extremely thick accents, I do belive we either confused the poor girl or bemused her as we kept explaining what we wanted and bickering among ourselves at quite exactly what she had said. needless to say there where a few hijinks concerning food and appropriate behaviour. Nachos never last that long around me, nor does chocolate brownies around Dan and Sally. We split up after arguing out the bill and a few of us headed to the Shed our local pub and what i consider to be the cheapest drink in Lincoln.
We had a little trouble concerning a member of our troupeas she had no ID and wouldnt be allowed into the building. To me this is not on as she could quite easily drink cola all evening thus being the genius I am; followed her out with a glass of free sparkling wine the Shed had given me as a birthday treat. I was rebuffed as the party member did not want me getting in trouble for offering booze to someone without an ID, I still consider that rubbish and she should have taken the damn drink. In the end five of us remained downing the bottle of free grog and a few cocktails when Benajmin the ever loveable scamp decides we should go steal a Morrisons food trolly.
Now I'm no-one new to this sort of behaviour and found it the hight of good humour to follow and watch this happen and yet found myself surprised when our other housemate decided to join in the nights criminal activities. We didnt quite manage to get to Morrisons to steal a trolly but we did go on a bit of a deliquent student spree which including stealing signs of a building site, Unscrewing signs from around campus digs (I now own a fire escape sign for my room) and some odd behaviour that involved annoying people in lifts with inflatable balls, All before 12 am
Even now reflecting upon it I still consider it one of my best nights out this year.
